We are seeking qualified candidates to fill a PhD position (4-year) in theoretical high-energy physics at the Institute For Computational Science of the University of Zurich. The PhD project will be concerned with the computation of multi-loop scattering amplitudes in QCD for LHC phenomenology.

The position will be associated to the group of Prof. H. Ita with expertise in collider physics, the computation of radiative corrections in field theories and modern approaches to scattering amplitudes. The applicants will be encouraged to collaborate with local PhD students and postdocs as well as to take advantage of the expertise in theoretical and experimental particles physics groups at the LTP Theory Group of the Paul Scherrer Institute.

The annual salary is set by a predetermined matrix from the Swiss Science Foundation for Doctoral students. There are ample funds for travel, publications and computers.

Application deadline: The position is expected to be filled during fall 2023. The evaluation of the application will start on October 15th. Priority will be given to applications received by October 15th, 2023, however, late submissions will be considered until the position is filled.

Starting date: Employment will start at the earliest possible date, possibly in November 2023. Please indicate preferred starting dates in your application.

Requirements: The candidate should have a bachelor and master degree in Physics. Candidates with a strong theoretical/computational background are especially encouraged to apply.

Application: To apply, please submit the following material to the Academic Jobs Online (AJO):
1) A motivation letter (maximum 1 page),
2) a CV (maximum 2 pages),
3) a list of publications (if applicable) and
4) transcripts of your grades of courses obtained during your bachelor and master degrees.
5) The candidate should also arrange for 2 confidential letters of recommendation to be uploaded to AJO prior to the deadline of 15th of October 2023.
