CALL TO AWARD FOREIGN VISITING SCIENTIST FELLOWS 
The National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) is the Italian research agency dedicated to the study of the fundamental constituents of matter and the laws that govern them, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MUR). It conducts theoretical and experimental research in the fields of subnuclear, nuclear and astroparticle physics and in technological activities. Scientific training and dissemination are among the INFN tasks, also in partnership with the Universities, with the possibilities of awarding fellowships and prizes. INFN is also interested in fostering the participation of highly qualified scientists to its technological and research programs.
Job Description 
The President of INFN announces a public selection procedure, based on qualifications, for the assignment of up to n. 5 foreign visiting scientists’ fellowships.
To fulfill its role as a member of the world-wide community of scientific institutes, INFN offers the use of its research facilities in the four labs (LNF, LNGS, LNL, LNS), and in 20 units located at major Italian Universities, at its National Centers (CNAF, TIPFA, GGI), chosen among those listed in Annex 1, to established experienced scientists with staff positions in foreign research institutions, and with an existing professional relationship with INFN, for participating in its programme covering experimental and theoretical particle physics, as well as various related activities in applied physics, electronics, computing and engineering.
The fellowship will last a period from six months to one year, and it is renewable after a proposal of the Director of the Center/Laboratory/Unit where the visiting scientist carries on his/her research activity.
The duration of the renewal cannot exceed the one of the already awarded fellowship.
The selected fellows must take up service within one year from the communication of the fellowship award, and carry out their research exclusively for the INFN.
Applications must be submitted electronically using the online application system by January 31st 2025 by 11:59:59 pm at the latest, at the following website https://reclutamento.dsi.infn.it ;
Applicants must hold:
  1.  A self-certified curriculum vitae (max. 5 pages);
  2. A statement of interest and the indication of the fellowship’s duration (max. 5 pages);
  3. A list with the most recent 10 publications;
  4. A letter of invitation from the Director of the INFN Center, Laboratory or Unit. 
Qualifications
In order to qualify for a position as a INFN Foreign Visiting Scientist, the candidate must remain employed by the home institute during the appointment at INFN. The home institute will continue to guarantee social insurance during the stay at INFN. Applicants must have a medical insurance that is adequate in Italy for him/herself and for accompanying family members.
INFN will provide to eligible candidates: 
A contract of association to INFN starting from six months up to one year, renewable only once (on the proposal of the Director of the hosting INFN Center, Laboratory, Unit) together with a subsistence allowance based on seniority:
  1. Experienced Scientists - Gross Monthly Allowance - € 3.600,00;
  2. Senior Experienced Scientists - Gross Monthly Allowance - € 5.000,00; 
Duties of the “Foreign Visiting Scientists’ Fellows”:
  1.  To carry out his/her activities regularly and continuously for the entire duration of the scholarship; 
  2. To prepare, at the end of each year, a summary report on the activity carried out to be addressed it to the Director of the INFN structure concerned; 
  3. To observe all internal regulations, in particular the Code of Ethics and the INFN Code of Conduct; 
  4. The activity provided for in the grant shall be suspended in cases of maternity leave, parental leave exceeding 30 days and consequently extended for an equal period. 
The Evaluation Committee, nominated by the President of the INFN, is composed by a President and two or more components, ensuring the gender balance.
The Evaluation Committee shall first adopt the criteria to be used for the assessment of candidates' qualifications. At the end of each meeting, the minutes shall be drawn up and, at the end of the work, a final report containing the list of candidates.
The ranking list will include only the candidates who have obtained the minimum score of 140 out of 200 points.
At the end of the selection process, the results will be published at the website of the call.
This public selection procedure is funded by INFN ordinary funds.
The Visiting Scientist will use, for his/her research activity, the headquarters and equipment of the assigned Structure and the services of the INFN staff in compliance with the regulations of the Institution and according to the rules of the Structure itself.
The Visiting Scientist can be sent on mission, for reasons related to the activity covered by the scholarship, shall benefit of the treatment of mission according to the rules provided for the staff.
The intellectual property rights on the results obtained during the activities carried out on behalf of the INFN belong exclusively to the INFN, which may freely dispose of them, without prejudice to the moral right recognized by law to the author of the work or invention.
The provision of data is necessary to assess the participation requirements and the possession of qualifications and their failure to indicate may preclude such evaluation.
The data shall be kept for the period necessary to carry out the selection procedure and subsequently retained for archiving purposes only.
The INFN guarantees to each interested party access to personal data concerning him, as well as the correction, cancellation and limitation of the same and the right to oppose their treatment; also guarantees the right to lodge a complaint with the Authority.

All information candidates provide will be treated confidentially to establish their eligibility and qualifications; if not provided, candidates will be excluded from the selection process. INFN guarantees that candidates can access to their personal data concerning, as well as their rectification, deletion and limitation and the right to object to the personal data processing; it also guarantees the right to file a complaint with the Data Processing Authority regarding the processing carried out.
