CLASSE 2019 SERCCS Online Application Form The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded us a grant for a summer research program for New York State community college students. Under the Summer Engineering and Research for Community College Students (SERCCS) program, students interested in a career in science, engineering, and technology will be invited to participate in cutting-edge research at the Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE). The eight-week program will start Tuesday May 28, 2019 and ends Friday July 19, 2019. In addition to participation in accelerator, x-ray science research, experimental cosmology and astrophysics, the program will include formal seminars, formal lectures, tours of research facilities, social and recreational events, and a forum at the program's end in which participants present results of their research. Participants will receive a stipend of $4,000. Local group housing will be provided through Cornell University Campus life, if participants prefer not to commute daily. Your application should include: 1. A personal statement describing your experience, skills, interests and goals, and what aspect of the research at CLASSE is of special interest to you. 2. An official electronic transcript from your community college. 3. Two letters of recommendation, at least one from a professor at your college. Applications completed after midnight EST Friday February 15, 2019 may not be considered.
