Program Description
We currently offer two Ph.D. positions in Theoretical Quantum Physics to well-qualified and highly motivated young scientists who want to advance their careers in a stimulating research-focused environment. The successful candidate will work in the Quantum Theory group led by Prof. Adolfo del Campo at the University of Luxembourg. https://sites.google.com/site/adolfodelcampo/ Research in the group is focused on non-equilibrium quantum phenomena and foundations of physics with applications to Quantum Science and Technology. For an overview of recent research activities, see https://bit.ly/3jK6zog The group offers an attractive working atmosphere and has a long track record of theoretical and experimental collaborations worldwide. The positions are supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund. Research topics include: I) Adiabatic quantum computing, quantum annealing, quantum algorithms, adiabatic theorem for many-body systems, random matrix theory and complex quantum systems, shortcuts to adiabaticity, numerical and analytical methods for disordered spin systems, and mathematical physics. II) Dynamics of phase transitions, Kibble-Zurek mechanism and beyond, theory of ultracold gases, solitons and vortices, numerical simulation of Bose-Einstein condensates, spatial statistics and stochastic geometry, and related concepts. An MSc in Physics or an equivalent degree is required to be considered for this position. The candidate needs to possess excellent written and oral English communication skills. The expected starting date for this position is around June-September 2023. Applications can be submitted through Academic Jobs Online until 29 January 2023. To apply, please submit a CV, a list of Publications, a cover letter indicating your experience in solving challenging problems and how you match the advertised profile (research focus I and/or II), and the contact of three academic referees.Application Materials Required:
Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application:
- Cover letter
- Curriculum Vitae
- Publication list
- Three references (no actual letters, just names and email addresses )
And anything else requested in the program description.
